Start off the holiday season by expressing your thanks for Mt. Tam and its surrounding communities.
Join them on Saturday, November 11th as they work to maintain the health of the meadows and grasslands at the Horse Hill Open Space Preserve. Spend the day removing French Broom in the company of like minded volunteers and land managers as they work together to steward the places they love. One Tam, a collaboration of Marin County Parks, Marin Municipal Water District, the National Park Service, California State Parks and the Parks Conservancy, is proud to work with sponsors MCBC, the Trail Partners and the Alto Bowl Horseowners Association to put put on this day of service.
“Why remove French broom?” Good question. French broom is an invasive plant species that overwhelms diverse grassland ecosystems. Horse Hill has been a restoration site for over 20 years and though it’s transformation has been remarkable, there is still work to be done.
This rain or shine work day will culminate with a pizza party and raffle prizes. Families and all ages are welcome. Please bring sturdy shoes, layers, and a water bottle. Free but an RSVP is required.
