Elegant writer and acclaimed historian Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz in conversation with journalist Mary Jo McConahay on why we need to stop perpetuating the simplistic idea that the United States is a “nation of immigrants” and embrace our real (and often horrific) history. This will be one of the first public previews of Dunbar-Ortiz’s upcoming book, NOT A NATION OF IMMIGRANTS: Settler Colonialism, White Supremacy, and a History of Erasure and Exclusion (Beacon Press, August 2021).
