Event Details

Come by the Bernal Heights library branch to celebrate National Poetry Month and Earth Day at an evening of poems chosen for your delight from the canon of English poetry and read by San Francisco poet, Diane Frank.

The reading will be accompanied by the musical expressions of cellist, Erik Ievins. Diane will also share selections from her newly published book of poems, Swan Light.

Diane Frank is an award-winning poet and author of six books of poems, including Entering the Word Temple, The Winter Life of Shooting Stars, and her latest, Swan Light. She teaches at San Francisco State University and Dominican University, directs the Blue Light Press On-line Poetry Workshop, and leads workshops for young writers as a Poet in the Schools. Her second novel, Yoga of the Impossible, is due out May 21, 2014.

Erik Ievins began playing classical cello as soon as he was old enough to hold a bow, and joined professional symphony and pops orchestras while he was still in high school. He enjoys improvising for songwriters in the recording studio and collaborating with poets, expressing the emotions of a poem through music. He is a member of the musical group, StringFire.
