Night of the Arts: Rooftop Poetry Lounge (Oakland)

This event is headlined by a live book reading performance from J R Rice, musical performance by Semaj the Poet and comedy set by LadyRoc. All of these individuals are independent artists. This event is open to all creatives from all artistic disciplines. Musicians, singers, dancers, comedians, Djs, rappers, poets, and spoken word artists will have a platform to share their craft.

HOW IT STARTED

The inspiration behind the event was to provide 1) a platform for Bay Area independent artists to share their talent and 2) provide a healthy expressional outlet for people especially after the pandemic. Writing has always been a form of therapy for me. Sharing ones experiences through artistic expression with others has the power to become an informal lesson. Others can learn, heal, and or become inspired by what an artist shares. Art music and books have a universal language that bridges gaps and this event is designed to be a reflection of those traits.
