On Saturday, December 19th, leave your maxed out credit cards at home and join Non*Mart’s designers and artists for and afternoon of festive holiday art making and trading instead of consuming junk. Also, check out new items up for trade. Join Non*Mart co-founder Sasha Petrenko for a Bourbon vs Rum-Ball taste-off and workshop

Created by artists Kathryn Kenworth and Sasha Petrenko, Non*Mart invites artists, designers and the general public to participate in a dynamic trade based alternative to traditional commerce.

Featured artists Lauren Davies, Miriam Dym, Francesca Pastine, Alison Pebworth, Stephanie Syjuco,  Sasha Petrenko, Claudia Tennyson, Kathryn Kenworth and others present art, apparel, home accessories, recipes, skill-shares and services.

Steve Green (Eugene, Ore) hosts a Modern Art Making Station
Create small works of enduring and long-lasting beauty using simple materials, Steve shows you how you can make art works that employs minimalist color theory and/or simple expression of complex thought.

Johnna Arnold (Oakland, Ca) offers a Over-Again screen printing Service

Printmaker Anthony Ryan (Bay Area, Ca) will show you how to make Polyhedra patterns and 3D models.
Get your math on and see how to create a patteren kit of your own. 

5:00-6:00 pm
Francesca Pastine (San Francisco, Ca) will present a Paper-cutting skill share.
Turn all those stacks of useless catologs and magazines into cutting-edge art.

5:00-6:00 pm
Visit Greg Lowe’s (Oakland, Ca) Transformational Portrait Booth.
Experience Greg’s photobooth (a la Saul Steinberg “Maskarade”) where you can make masks from paper grocery bags to wear in a stylish and enigmatic photo. Or, transform your face completely with an artful placement of packing tape.

5:30-6:30 pm
Non*Mart co-founder Sasha Petrenko (Richmond, Ca) hosts a Bourbon vs. Rum-ball Taste-off and Workshop!
Learn to make rum and bourbon balls. Taste and compare. Join the workshop and make an easy holiday treat – no baking required. (bring an ingredient from the list to share and make a few cookies to take with you).

Here’s the list of ingredients:
• burbon or rum!
• vanilla wafer cookies or shortbread cookies
• powdered sugar
• coca powder (can use Dutch processed or regular unsweetened cocoa powder).
• light corn syrup
• a mixing bowl
