Come out to Mighty for a concert and celebration for the 10th anniversary of “Where’d You Get Those? New York City’s Sneaker Culture: 1960-1987,” the landmark book written by Bobbito Garcia, along with DJs spinning old school sets. There’s even an open bar from 9-10 pm.
Free before 10 pm with an RSVP.
New York City rap radio legends Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito aka Kool Bob Love reunite in San Francisco by dropping sets featuring music from 1960-1987. Local heavyweight DJs Shortkut and Proof will perform opening deejay sets that will set the night off right, with host Fran Boogie handling the mic to keep the party hype.
Wear your old school sneakers because there will be a “Freshest Sneaker of the Night” contest judged by Bobbito Garcia. Please note that sneakers must be a model from 1960-1987 featured in the book.
