Join the Oakland Asian Cultural Center (OACC) and partners to celebrate the International Day of Peace. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The ceremony features lantern-making, a moment of silence and meditation for peace, non-partisan voter registration, pedal-powered sound system, and presentations featuring Tacuma King and Sun Drummers of United Africa Ensemble, Emeryville Taiko, Intertribal Friendship House All Nations Drum and Youth Dancers, and more.
4:30 pm – Welcome: OACC & Abel Guillén, Councilmember
4:40 pm – Intertribal Friendship House – All Nations Drum & Youth Dancers
5:20 pm – Tacuma King and Sun Drummers of United Africa Ensemble (Bay Area Youth Arts)
6:00 pm – Emeryville Taiko – Japanese drumming
6:30 pm – Hālau ʻO Kawainuhi – Hula Kahiko
6:55 pm – Moment of Silence
7:05 pm – Calpulli Panquetzalitzli – Danza Azteca
7:25 pm – Closing
- 4:30 – 7:30 pm – Non-Partisan voter registration & information by FairVote California, League of Women Voters of Oakland, and Women’s March Oakland
- 4:30 – 7 pm – Lantern-making & decorating (various types)
- Pedal-power mic by Rock the Bike
