Event Details

Oakland’s historic Grand Lake Theater reopens today (May 27) for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. The first screening is “A Quiet Place Part 2” at 5pm for $7.50.

The Grand Lake, located at 3200 Grand Ave (across the street from Lake Merritt) is a 4-screen historic movie palace built in 1926. The theater, known for its super political marquee was the winner of “Best Place to See a Movie” in the 2015- 2020 East Bay Express Readers’ Poll.

  • The theater is closed Tuesdays & Wednesdays.
  • See the full upcoming film lineup including Disney’s Cruella and “We All Live in Gaza” on June 3rd
  • General Admission is $13 (3D features are $14.50)
  • Matinees are $7.50 for all shows prior to 5:45p, including any 3D screenings.

Special Promotions on Hold:

  • Discount Tuesdays with $5 tickets are temporarily discontinued. The Grand Lake says $5 Tuesdays will return with the end of seating restrictions.
