Get into the holiday cheer this December’s First Friday as we celebrate the work of Team 841: the Biomechs, Richmond High School’s Robotics team. Enjoy festivities with holiday art (fabricated by the robotics students), music, and hors d’oeuvres. The art will be auctioned – all proceeds will benefit a space for students to explore fields like robotics, computer programming, electrical engineering, and mechanical design, while emphasizing critical soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
The event is sponsored by Oakland-based architecture firm, Design Draw Build and The Crown: Royal Coffee Lab and Tasting Room. Enter the giving season by supporting Team 841’s mission to empower East Bay high school students with STEAM skills and while you’re at it, take some incredible holiday crafts home!

Parking in this area is scarce, even on the luckiest of days. 2 Hour Metered parking is offered throughout the area @ $2/hour.

The Downtown Oakland YMCA has a parking garage located at 2350 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94612 @ $20/day.
About Team 841: The Biomechs
Founded in 2002, Team 841: The Biomechs is a dedicated and innovative robotics team from Richmond, California. As a part of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), they strive to inspire and empower the next generation of engineers, scientists, and leaders. The team name, The Biomechs, reflects their focus on blending mechanical engineering with cutting-edge technology to create robots that push the boundaries of design and function. A diverse group of students from Richmond and surrounding communities come together each year to build a competitive robot capable of tackling complex challenges. All while fostering collaboration, mentorship, and hands-on learning. Team 841 provides a space for students to explore fields like robotics, computer programming, electrical engineering, and mechanical design, while also emphasizing critical soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
About Design Draw Build
Design Draw Build (DDB) is a San Francisco Bay area based architect-led design-build firm specializing in custom homes, adaptive reuse, and socially impactful housing. The team’s craft-forward approach integrates strong tenets of critical regionalism, anchoring building, and site design to the local context to embrace a complete vision toward landscape stewardship. Founded in 2010, DDB’s multi-disciplinary team consists of licensed architects and builders, a fully integrated team offering both Architecture and Construction Services, led by Principal Tyler Kobick, AIA. With a vision to deliver socially conscious, warm, modern architecture, the DDB team seeks to celebrate the built environment and nurture the natural one through each and every project, giving way to new forms of expression and interaction.
