San Mateo County History Museum is sending up the 4th of July in a way even we weren’t expecting. I’d call it a blast from the past, but that’s putting it mildly.

An Old Fashioned Fourth celebrates an America of an earlier time, when ladies wore hoop skirts and horse-buggies were still a thing. It’s hands-on education where the kids will make their own 1880’s flag, create pinwheels, and get to churn ice cream. That’s right kids, we had to churn our own ice cream. Make the little ones work for their treats for a change!
