The newly formed Claude Heater Foundation presents screening of the historic 1968 film version of Richard Wagner’s opera Tristan und Isolde (Act 1), on Saturday, August 18, 2018, 1:00 PM at the Legion of Honor Museum’s Gunn Theater, accompanied by pre-film introduction by Jonathan Khuner, and post-film live recital featuring dramatic opera singers Geoffrey Di Giorgio, Thomas Truhitte, and more.

> Get Tickets – $15

This rare film showing is a special treat for music lovers. The production was made for Belgian TV, sparked by a triumphant performance Claude Heater made in the country, attended by producers who approached him to create a filmed opera piece. The resulting broadcast was so well received, it encouraged the producers a film of the complete Tristan und Isolde opera, with a cast of top opera talent of the period, with Claude Heater (Tristan,) Jacqueline van Quaille (Isolde,) Maryse Patris (Brangäne,) Dan Richardson (Kurwenal,) Josef Greindl (King Marke,) and Robert Van Helvert (Melot.)  This is totally unique – the only fully costumed filmed version of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde.
