Opera on Tap: Non-stuffy Opera Sung Live in a Bar | SF
Opera on Tap is a non-profit organization whose mission is to break down the stereo-type that opera is a stuffy or an elitist art form, by bringing it to bars.
Local singers let their hair down and bring you into what feels like an after hours back stage party, singing some of opera’s best known and little known pieces in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
Opera on the Spot is an operatic performance troupe performing in and around the Bay Area. They are a talented group of young, classically trained singers embarking on a professional career in Opera. With no set venue, they choose less conventional places for performances, including bars, restaurants, and community spaces.
Musical Nationalism is a musical movement that emerged in the late 19th century in response to political independence movements at that time. Composers would often incorporate aspects of national identity into their music, using folk songs, rhythms and even current political events. Join them, May 8 at 7:30 pm, to discover and increase your knowledge of this beautiful era of musical repertoire.
