Opera on Tap: Non-stuffy Opera Sung Live in a Bar | SF

Opera on Tap is a non-profit organization whose mission is to break down the stereo-type that opera is a stuffy or an elitist art form, by bringing it to bars.

Local singers let their hair down and bring you into what feels like an after hours back stage party, singing some of opera’s best known and little known pieces in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

From Despina the maid to Sarastro the king, it seems like many characters have an opinion — whether well-informed or not – as to the state of life and how to get out of a sticky situation. Sometimes the advice is perfect, and other times … well … not so much.

Bring your friends to The Rite Spot to enjoy a cold one and listen to Opera on Tap wax eloquent about life, hatch a crafty scheme, and mansplain their ideas until everyone’s eyes start to roll.
