Original Famous Twang Sundays is a free, all-ages concert series at Thee Parkside in Potrero Hill.
Come by every Sunday; there’s always a fresh traditional or contemporary live act and a surprise special to purchase from the kitchen.
On Sunday, November 9th, Original Famous Twang Sundays welcomes Chris James & the Showdowns and Mad Mama & the Bona Fide Few to Thee Parkside.
With a signature musical blend of Americana, Blues and Alt-Country Rock, Chris James and the Showdowns wear their hearts on the stage and deliver memorable songwriting that makes a lasting connection. Their music, lyrics and vibe can have you feeling nostalgic one moment, then making you want to head for the dance floor the next.
Their first album “Lucky Breaks” was a three-year project that first began with two microphones and a lot of heart in a small Haight Ashbury studio. Eventually the songs traveled to Scarborough Maine for inspiration, and back to San Francisco’s Faultine and Hyde St. Studios for the full production realized. The record embodies a “coming of age” spirit with themes of longing, change, hope and acoustic driven, open road Americana. “Lucky Breaks” has grabbed the attention of several roots rock radio stations, and was chosen for Grammy nomination consideration by The San Francisco Recording Academy Chapter.
Described as “Whiskey-soaked Americana,” Mad Mama and The Bona Fide Few’s current lineup came together in San Francisco during 2011. Featuring original music by Mad Mama, live shows also feature songs by artists like Johnny Cash, Social Distortion, Hank Williams Sr. and others.
