Palette Gallery, a contemporary art space in San Francisco’s SOMA neighborhood, debuts Flavors of Photography, an exhibit dedicated to the work of prominent Bay Area food photographers.
On display from Oct 2 through November 28, Flavors of Photography captures each artist’s individual perspective of food and explores the ingredients that comprise the photographer’s visual aesthetic of cuisine, from the field, the plate, or their imagination. The debut of Flavors of Photography marks the grand reopening of Palette Gallery, which is part of, and adjacent to, Palette, the destination restaurant from Chef Peter J. Hemsley that combines creative cuisine and art-inspired presentation in an aesthetic environment, located at 816 Folsom Street.
The Flavors of Photography exhibit will feature 85 images from 19 prominent Bay Area photographers: Caren Alpert, Ed Anderson, Leigh Beisch, Maren Caruso, Molly DeCoudreaux, Lori Eanes, Shea Evans, Laurie Frankel, Nader Khouri, Andria Lo, Soraya Matos, Nicola Parisi, Aubrie Pick, Kelly Puleio, Sara Remington, Sue Tallon, Marija Vidal, Rob Williamson, and Eric Wolfinger. Ranging from dramatic and bold to intimately detailed, their images capture the artists’ perspective of how food, and all the things that accompany it, is an integral part of the human experience and as personal as a home-cooked meal. The entire collection will be available for sale at www.palette-gallery.com.
