Event Details

Manna Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new works by Luz Marina Ruiz opening Saturday, March 13 and continuing to April 24. Meet Luz at the gallery Saturday, March 13, from 2 – 4 pm when she will meet gallery visitors and discuss how sheltering in place has influenced her creative process.
Luz explains, “As the world changed in 2020 and shelter in place became the norm, I was fortunate to have a safe haven at my San Francisco art studio. Suddenly the world became small and we collectively faced the same fears and uncertainties. This did not feel like a time to embark on expansive projects. Instead, I opted to work on a series of small 5” x 5” stencil monoprints. During a time of intense emotions, when we were brought to our knees, I felt the need to focus on joy and positivity. These tiny prints became my small worlds or “mundos pequeños. I use rich, bold color, with a myriad of shapes to create whimsical abstract pieces. My goal was to create 50 prints. After a few months, I exceeded my goal with a total of 75 prints. I made a selection of 50 of the most resolved prints for this exhibition.”
