Faber College freshmen Larry Kroger (Tom Hulce) and Kent Dorfman (Stephen Furst) want to join a fraternity to offset their “out-crowd” membership. But the only fraternity that shows any interest in the wimpy Kroger and the overweight Dorfman is the notorious Delta Tau Chi (Animal House). And Delta Tau Chi is in serious trouble.

Its members have the lowest GPA on campus, the frat house is a dilapidated wreck, Dean of Students Vernon Wormer (John Vernon) wants to close it down, and the fraternity seems to have earned a reputation for gross, irresponsible behavior. As it turns out, most of the members of Delta Tau Chi are gross and irresponsible – none more so than John “Bluto” Blutarsky (John Belushi). As the boys of Delta Tau Chi fight to save their fraternity they dig themselves deeper and deeper into trouble, until glorious mayhem erupts at the climactic Homecoming parade.
