Perform Everything Else, a work for “non-musical instruments” by composer Sarah Hennies which will be performed by community members alongside members of Left Coast Chamber Ensemble. Hennies’ works explore concepts of creativity, perception, alienation, ambiguity and the spectrum of identity. No musical experience required.
Hennies writes: “the piece makes a connection between queer identities and being a percussionist in that both can only be defined by what they are not. A queer person is not straight, a percussionist is not a flautist. Both exist in a vast spectrum of possibility that cannot be succinctly defined.”
Participants will be expected to participate in a rehearsal on Friday, April 28, 2023, 6:30PM – 8:30PM, as well as perform in both performances of Everything Else on April 29, 2023, 7PM and April 30, 2023, 4PM.
