Event Details

The newly released “History’s Anteroom” by Rodger Birt and Marvin Nathan presents the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire, and the swift rebuilding of the city, through the eyes and lenses of the local photographic community.

How individual photographers captured San Francisco’s devastation and recovery from 1906 to 1909 is the focus of the book, with the art of photography itself at the center of Birt’s written text and Nathan’s descriptions of the numerous camera images.

The authors will discuss the book and the era at the Main Library on October 26th.
