Help Plant 100+ Trees in SF to Celebrate Arbor Day (2023)

 Join San Francisco Public Works for a day of greening and neighborhood pride in District 6 (South of Market).

Our goal is to plant 100+ trees in 1 day and we need your help! Volunteers will be assigned to 10-18 teams and plant street trees in District 6.

What to Expect

• Registration is required.  
• Didn’t register? You brought friends along? Walk-in volunteers can register at the registration tables at 8:30 AM (Harrison St and Sherman St).
• The event kicks off at Bessie Carmichael Elementary School yard (Harrison St and Sherman St) with registration between 8:30 AM and 9 AM.
• We’ll hold a short speaking program to go over the day’s activities and get a quick safety overview.
• Volunteers and Public Works staff then will head to their assigned work sites.
• Work will take place for about 3 hours, with everyone returning to the kickoff location around noon.
• Volunteers will be able to enjoy the Arbor Day Fair before and after the tree planting.
• Free refreshments will be provided to volunteers.

What to Wear/Bring

• Dress in layers
• Wear closed toe shoes and sunscreen
• Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated
