Pluralities Project: “The Negro Artist” Screening & Live Awards

Join the Documentary Film Institute at San Francisco State University on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 5:30 PM at McKenna Theatre for the closing-night event of the sixth Pluralities Project. The evening features a screening of The Negro Artist, presented by filmmaker Nik Heftman and poet Caleb Rainey, followed by the Accomplice Awards honoring artists, activists, and cultural figures who have brought important issues to light. This year’s posthumous honorees include pioneering Black journalist Belva Davis and her longtime producer George Osterkamp, along with influential cultural critic, musician, and artist Greg Tate. Part of the sixth Pluralities Seminar, this event brings together film, poetry, journalism, and cultural history to celebrate the people who challenge narratives and shape our understanding of the world.
