Event Details

Join the San Francisco community on this doubly special day as you watch the live broadcast of President Obama’s inauguration into his second term, as well as pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday at the Bayview Opera House from 10 am to 2 pm on Monday, January 21, 2013.

Free, but an RSVP is required.

Watch historical footage and explore the Slavery exhibit by historian Bill Doggett while you await the big moment.

Come out and support the circle of the democratic process and the sesquicentennial year of the placement of the Statue of Freedom atop the Capitol Dome with the viewing of President Barack Obama’s “Faith in America’s Future” inaugural address.

From 12-2 pm, you can also support the Dare 2 Dream ARTS efforts by enjoying a healthy lunch from the Bay View Opera House Cafe.

Please note, the Bayview event says they are showing “live” footage of the inauguration, but from what we can tell, according to Politico.com the official swearing in takes place at approximately 8:30am Pacific which is before the Bayview Opera event even starts. So we’re not certain if  they’re showing only the parade and what will be live and won’t won’t be live.
