Presidio Free Programs: Talks, Music & Performances | SF
San Francisco’s tradition of diverse cultural expression started at the Presidio, and continues today with events that enlighten, engage, and entertain, taking place at the Presidio Officers’ Club.
Enjoy topical discussions, live music, dance, and interactive family activities, all free to the public and sponsored by the Presidio Trust, in partnership with cultural institutions from across the Bay Area.
Archaeologists Barbara Voss and Kari Jones share their tantalizing finds to date at El Presidio de San Francisco, the Spanish Colonial site buried just below the surface in front of the Officers’ Club. Learn about the discovery of the site and rich historical information that has been revealed through archaeological research thus far.
They will also outline plans for the ongoing long-term research excavation of the site, and detail how their team hopes to uncover the wealth of untold stories yet to be discovered. Barbara Voss was involved in the discovery of the archaeological site of El Presidio de San Francisco, and is the author of “The Archaeology of Ethnogenesis: Race and Sexuality in Colonial San Francisco.” Kari Jones leads the research team that is excavating El Presidio de San Francisco.
