Presidio Free Programs: Talks, Music & Performances | SF
San Francisco’s tradition of diverse cultural expression started at the Presidio, and continues today with events that enlighten, engage, and entertain, taking place at the Presidio Officers’ Club.
Enjoy topical discussions, live music, dance, and interactive family activities, all free to the public and sponsored by the Presidio Trust, in partnership with cultural institutions from across the Bay Area.
As humans, we find comfort and nourishment in nature. Historically, cultures have attempted to capture these qualities through the creation of nature-like landscapes. These imaginative places, whether a city park, garden, golf course, or military reservation, are an attempt at recovering a connection with nature lost with Eden.
Free, but an RSVP is required.
In Imagining Eden, photographer Lyle Gomes will show his work and relate a project that began in 1989 within the Presidio forest, triggering a 17 year artistic journey that led him to England, Italy, and numerous American cities. His photographic project was supported by a Fulbright Scholar Award and a Rockefeller Foundation residency in Bellagio, Italy. His photographs can be found in numerous museum collections, including: San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris; George Eastman House, Rochester, New York; Cantor Center, Stanford University.
