San Francisco’s tradition of diverse cultural expression started at the Presidio, and continues today with events that enlighten, engage, and entertain, taking place at the Presidio Officers’ Club.
Enjoy topical discussions, live music, dance, and interactive family activities, all free to the public and sponsored by the Presidio Trust, in partnership with cultural institutions from across the Bay Area.
Don’t miss the incredible virtuosity and bristling energy of Splinter Reeds, a reed quintet of intrepid taste.
Splinter Reeds is the Bay Area’s first reed quintet, formed in 2013 by five innovative musicians with a shared passion for new music. Individually, in addition to having performed with the San Francisco Symphony and many regional orchestras, they are members of groups including San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, sfSound, Ensemble Parallele, Sqwonk, and ECO Ensemble. Their performance credits elsewhere include Alarm Will Sound, International Contemporary Ensemble, and Ensemble Dal Niente.
Splinter Reeds is committed to presenting top-tier performances of today’s best contemporary compositions, with an emphasis on commissioning new works and collaborating with composers and other artists.
