Shakespeare’s “King Lear”: Theatre in the Park | Berkeley

Actors Ensemble with Berkeley’s Inferno Theatre present William Shakespeare’s “King Lear.” Adapted and directed by Giulio Cesare Perrone, this ensemble production condenses and intensifies this seminal family tragedy with striking visuals, physicality and live music.

2015 Performance Dates
All performances start at 4 pm

  • Saturday and Sunday, August 22nd & 23rd
  • Saturday and Sunday,  August 29th & 30th
  • Labor Day Weekend: Saturday – Monday, September 5-7th

The performances take place in the intimate and beautiful John Hinkel Park in the Berkeley Hills. The amphitheatre consists of a series of stone steps. Bring pillows, pads, or low lawnchairs. The production is approximately 2 hours long plus a 15 minute intermission. The amphitheater opens at 3 pm for picnicking.

Please note, the amphitheater seats over 200 people, but they will reserve the first few rows as a courtesy, especially to the elderly and disabled; call 510-788-6415 to make a reservation. The amphitheater is wheelchair accessible; access is best from Somerset Pl: take Southhampton from Arlington and continue straight onto Somerset Pl. (Google Maps will send you to the top of park, and it’s quite a hike down).
