In Charlie Jane Anders’s Lessons in Magic and Disaster, a trans graduate student whose funding is in jeopardy harbors a secret spell-casting ability. In Michelle Tea’s road trip novel Little F, a queer runaway and his teenage witch best friend embark on a quest for the queer utopia of Provincetown, MA. And in Caitlin Starling’s The Starving Saints, three women—a nun-turned-sorceress, a knight, and a serving girl—reclaim their powers in the midst of a horrific fever dream.
