Event Details

Would you like to raise your own chickens and have fresh eggs in the morning? Find out how to get started, keep your chickens safe from other wildlife, and other essentials, including the updated City of Hayward livestock regulations that are currently under consideration.

This free workshop will be led by John (‘Papa John’) Kieffer, who has been raising chickens since the mid-1960s when he and his family settled in Lafayette. More than 50 years later, he still looks forward to feeding the chickens in the evening and collecting the eggs.

Free but RSVP preferred. Call 510-881-7980 to sign up. All ages are welcome; children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
