Join us for a rare film screening of world-renowned composer Benjamin Britten’s famous chamber opera Curlew River.
A mother searches for her lost son. Driven half-mad with worry, she meets a ferryman on the Curlew River who may know something. But is she prepared to learn the truth?
70 mins. In English with English subtitles. Please note this is a rare video document of this piece. As such, the audio and video are acceptable, but not high fidelity. Free and open to the public.
The screening is part of The Sumidagawa Project–film screenings of 3 different versions of the haunting Sumidagawa story: Noh theatre, Kabuki theatre, and chamber opera.
