The historic Public Health Service District, where compassionate care was once offered to mariners from around the world, has been re-imagined as the Presidio’s first “green” neighborhood.n Be among the first to tour newly revitalized historic buildings; enjoy local food, art, live music and kid-friendly activities; and explore an “EcoVillage” showcasing sustainable ideas and products.

Most importantly there’s Free Street Cart Food from Adobo Hobo, Magic Curry Kart, Kung Fu Tacos, Creme Brullee Cart, Kara’s Cupcakes!

From Marine Hospital to San Francisco’s First “Green” Neighborhood
Noon to 1:15 pm AND 2 to 3:15

Learn about the amazing evolution of a 19th century medical campus for seafaring mariners into a “green” neighborhood where people live, work, and enjoy the outdoors. This interactive presentation will touch on various topics including:

*The history of the hospital campus and the people who served and were treated there
*Establishing a new vision for the historic district
*Preserving historic buildings while inviting contemporary uses
*Sustainable “green” design and LEED certification

Presentation will be followed by a question and answer session
