Greetings All:
The tamalada is a traditional event that brings together family, neighbors, and friends. The social gathering, usually held the weeks preceding the holidays, ferments conversations, bonding, and occasionally, friendly gossip.
We are hosting Redwood City’s first annual Holiday Tamalada.
This is a hands on tamale making and tasting workshop.
We start with an Introduction to tamales, overview, history, variations, etc.
Participants will learn the authentic methods for making the tamale masa and different fillings. They will learn different techniques of rolling and folding the tamales. We will also demonstrate the steaming process with standard cookware.
We will also offer vegan alternatives.
Participants will leave with a dozen of their creations to cook at home and a recipe guide.
