Event Details

A powerful sonero whose resonant voice brings to mind the legendary Beny Moré, Fito Reinoso is one of the finest practitioners of música cubana in the US.

He played a variety of instruments growing up in Havana, including tres, bass and guitar. Fleeing his homeland during the 1980 Mariel boatlift, Reinoso eventually landed in the Bay Area, where he launched a creatively charged band that served as an essential proving ground for rising Cuban-born stars like pianist Omar Sosa and percussionist Jesus Diaz.

A gifted songwriter, Reinoso explores an array of Cuban styles, from son and rumba to timba.
