Event Details

Lake Merritt Rowing Club (LMRC) is excited to announce it will host the U.S. Rowing 2016 Southwest Masters Regional Championships on Lake Merritt in Oakland.

Up to 35 clubs and 500 rowers will compete. In addition to clubs from all parts of California, LMRC expects clubs from Oregon, Utah and Colorado to participate. Clubs from as far as Texas, Missouri, Florida and British Columbia may attend. Participants range in age from 21 to 80 years old.

About the Race:

Races leave from the start line every five minutes on a seven-lane course. Rowers will compete in singles, doubles, quads, pairs, fours and eights. The course is 1,000 meters long starting at the south end of the lake and ending at the north end.

The event is a regional competition with top finishers qualifying for the National Masters Championship in Massachusetts in August of this year.
