Saturday, the eighth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, will be an international day of action against the war machine.
In San Francisco, people will gather at 12 noon for a rally at UN Plaza calling out for “No to war & colonial occupation! Fund jobs, healthcare & education! Solidarity with SF hotel workers!”
We’ll then march to two nearby hotels boycotted by the 12,000-member strong Local 2 hotel workers union, fighting for a new contract that protects their healthcare, wages and working conditions.
The call to arms with the hotel workers is all because the war spending ($1 trillion+ 2011) is a crippling sum when 30 million people remain unemployed or severely underemployed, and cuts in education, housing and healthcare are imposing a huge toll on the people.
