Event Details

Join the very first San Francisco Fix-It Clinic on April 7, 2013 at the Richmond District Neighborhood Center.

Bring in your broken electronics, appliances, toys, etc. to receive guidance from Fix – It Coaches. You will learn how to disassemble, diagnose, and hopefully fix the problem and go home with a working item. Everyone (middle-school aged children and older) is encouraged to attend.

Things to bring:

  • Your non-working thing (carry-in only)
  • Any tools you already own that might be helpful
  • Any knowledge or advance research you have done on the issue
  • Boxes, bags and/or small containers to carry away parts. Muffin tins are great for holding tiny bits and pieces while you work.

Whether you fix your item or not, you will learn more about how your item was manufactured and how things work.

Fix-It Clinics are are taking place all over the world, and now there’s one in San Francisco. By empowering people to learn more about how to fix broken items and reduce ambivalence about trying to do so, we hope to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills.
