The San Francisco Free Folk Festival has been always been run by the San Francisco Folk Music Club. It’s been happening since 1977, when the first festival was staged at the Hall of Flowers. We’ve been known to have between 2,000 and 3,000 guests attending the event.

The 48th annual San Francisco Free Folk Festival will be live and in-person in Golden Gate Park on Saturday, July 13, 2024,

Typically, there is a main performance stage in the historic bandshell and four workshop spaces in the nearby Music Concourse.  All ages and musical interests are welcome at the festival. All events and workshops are open to anyone who wants to participate or just listen. Admission to everything is free!

Parking
There is an 800-space fee-based underground parking lot directly beneath the festival site.  Best bet is to enter the garage from its north entrance on 10th Avenue near Fulton St. (see map at right).  There is another garage entrance inside the park at Concourse Drive and Martin Luther King Drive. Please note that we cannot guarantee that space will be available in the garage on festival day.

Parking is also available along the roads throughout the park, but those spaces can fill up on weekends.  You can also try parking in the nearby neighborhoods.  If you don’t park nearby, you may be able to use the Golden Gate Park Free Shuttle to get to the festival site.

Accessibility
The festival areas have ramps.  There are 20 accessible parking spaces, including four van-accessible spaces, in a parking lot off Martin Luther King Drive behind the Music Concourse bandshell stage, and 33 accessible spaces in the garage (see above).  More info is here , under Accessible Parking.

Public Transit
The 44 O’Shaughnessy Muni bus line stops right on the Music Concourse, with the northbound 44 stopping in front of the California Academy of Sciences, and the southbound 44 stopping in front of the Japanese Tea Garden. Other nearby Muni lines include the 5 Fulton, 7 Haight and N Judah. For more information, visit https://www.sfmta.com.
