2025 San Francisco Free Folk Festival (Golden Gate Park)

The San Francisco Free Folk Festival has been always been run by the San Francisco Folk Music Club. It’s been happening since 1977, when the first festival was staged at the Hall of Flowers. We’ve been known to have between 2,000 and 3,000 guests attending the event.

The 49th annual San Francisco Free Folk Festival will be held in Golden Gate Park on Saturday July 12, 2025.

The San Francisco Free Folk Festival has been a cornerstone celebration of folk music’s rich history for the past 49 years. This year’s festival will be a full afternoon of music, storytelling, formal and informal music-making, and just plain fun.

• 14  performances on stage in the historic Golden Gate Park bandshell, co-sponsored by Illuminate and San Francisco Recreation and Parks
• 20 workshops and sessions in the Golden Gate Park Music Concourse co-sponsored by San Francisco Recreation and Parks, including instrumental and vocal workshops, jams, song circles, and storytelling

All ages and musical interests are welcome at the festival. All events and workshops are open to anyone who wants to participate or just listen. Admission to everything is free!
