50th Annual San Francisco Free Folk Festival (Golden Gate Park)

The San Francisco Free Folk Festival has been always been run by the San Francisco Folk Music Club. It’s been happening since 1977, when the first festival was staged at the Hall of Flowers. We’ve been known to have between 2,000 and 3,000 guests at the event.

The 50th annual San Francisco Free Folk Festival will be held in Golden Gate Park on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

The San Francisco Free Folk Festival has been a cornerstone celebration of folk music’s rich history for the past 50 years. This year’s festival will be a full afternoon of music, storytelling, formal and informal music-making, and just plain fun.

• 22 live performances across two music stages and a dedicated dance area, featuring folk, bluegrass, Celtic, Latin, Cajun, Americana, singer-songwriters, and more
• 18 workshops, jams, sing-alongs, storytelling sessions, and participatory events, including sea shanties, political songs, Sacred Harp singing, storytelling, tune jams, and campfire songs

All ages and musical interests are welcome at the festival. All events and workshops are open to anyone who wants to participate or just listen. Admission to everything is free!
