The Mechanics’ Institute is excited for the return to in-person play at our annual free San Francisco Scholastic Chess Championship. Join us at the County Fair Building for a fun free day full of friendly competition and the joy of chess. This tournament is open to all school-age children and the competition includes both rated and unrated sections. A simultaneous exhibition will be held throughout the tournament by FIDE Master Paul Whitehead.
