2019 McLaren Park’s Free Kids Fest | SF

Returning this year on August 25, 2019 at 11am, the (sometimes) annual music & activity festival for children in John McLaren Park. A fun filled day of music, performers, crafts, games, ecology and community resiliency for and by kids.

The International Music & Dance Show features an array of very talent local musicians, starting with Taikomotion, who perform the art of Japanese drumming, better known as Taiko.

Then welcome the Kapalakiko Hawaiian Band who will present various genres of Hawaiian music on ukuleles and guitar to emphasize the beauty of the Hawaiian language, lyrics, poetry and traditional dance.

Then if you aren’t already off your feet, get up, and join the Duniya Dance and Drum Company who will lead you in Bollywood-style dancing. Formed in April 2007, Duniya (which means “world”) Dance and Drum Company creates dance and music from Punjab, India, and Guinea, West Africa.

Closing this week’s show is a late add of Latin Rock and Salsa with Adelante and Lumbre. Orquesta Adelante was restarted by Suzanne Cortez in 2006. Her intent was to bring positive messages through her music in hopes to bring unity, harmony, and happiness to the people. Adelante strives to break “racial barriers” with its Salsa and Latin Jazz music.
