Science, Neat: Interactive Science Happy Hour | El Rio
Dust off your pocket protector and grab a whiskey because science is taking over the El Rio bar.
Science, Neat is a monthly summer happy hour that pairs lightening talks with live demonstrations on the back patio of the El Rio bar in San Francisco, California.
Get in touch with your inner scientist while sipping your favorite drink and networking with other like-minded nerds.
June’s theme is Chomp! and will feature jaw evolution, feeding strategies from the deep, unusual teeth, and large skulls as well as some food science and mixology by Mad Art Lab’s Anne Sauer.
Lightning talks:
- Dr. Shannon Bennett , Microbiology: Mosquito feeding
- Mr. Esteban Parker: Science of Miracle Fruit
Interactive stations:
- Biologists Ryan Hulett, Joshua Hallas, Vanessa Knutson, Brenna Green, Julia Taylor, Shannon Barry, Liz Carlen and Angus Chandler from San Francisco State University and the California Academy of Sciences will dive into the unique feeding methods and structures of mammals, fishes and molluscs.
- There’s even science in the glass you’re holding; Mad Art Lab’s mixologist Anne Sauer will blow your mind.
- Ever wonder what lives inside your mouth? Angus Chandler and Sean Edgerton will show you.
