After a massive 5-year hiatus, we’re super excited to say the Scottish Ball is BACK. And this year, held in the famous and beautiful SF Italian Atheltic Club in Washington Square in North Beach.
This is the follow on event to the hugely successful 2017 Scottish Summer Ball that was held at The University Club. This year, we are turning it up a notch (yet again).
” A braw evenin’ ae dancin, shooglin’ an’ steamin’ “
On arrival at the illustrious SF Italian Althetic Club, in the heart of North Beach, you will be welcomed by a drinks reception. As you relax and explore the historic venue there will be whisky tasting available, with some of the finest whiskies Scotland has to offer, all while being serenaded by the wonderfully talented harpist, Ella Jenkins.
Following this, we will provide a wide selection of finger foods and appetizers from the Italian Althetic Club – appetizers, anti-pasto etc. Note – this is not a sit down meal, but there will be plenty of food. If you are hungry, we advise to grab a bite beforehand or in one of the many pizzerias around the area.
Next up, we’ll get into the dancing. The 5 piece traditional Scottish band ‘Haggis & Avocado’, will perform and teach all traditional Scottish dancing. The dances will include classics such as ‘Strip the Willow‘ and ‘The Gay Gordons‘. Don’t worry if you’ve never tried it before – from complete beginners to pro’s, we will cater for all!
At the end of the night, we will transition from the traditional, to the modern, with a DJ (who you may recognize) to help us shake away any remaining energy.
Alongside these activities, there will be other surprises on the evening, so join us for an evening of dancing, celebration and good times – guaranteed to be a night to remember.
Dress code : Black tie and cocktail dresses. Scottish attire, kilts or a splash of tartan are of course encouraged. Kilts can be rented from William Glen & Son in downtown SF.
Parking: We encourage you to get a taxi to the venue, but around North Beach there are plenty of parking garages as it’s a tourist hotspot (have a look on google).
Tickets are likely to sell out (as they did in previous years) and we’re strictly limited on numbers, so don’t delay.
So… Och aye, let’s Scotify!
