Event Details

What’s it like to play Roller Derby? How do you get to be a jammer, a blocker or a pivot? Are you tough enough to find out? Come to a Q&A with Absolutely Scabulous, Belle Wringer, Patty Hearse, and Kraken Rox. They’ll share war stories, hair raising tales, and maybe even the origins of those names.

Free, but an RSVP is appreciated.

Roller Derby is one of the world’s fastest growing sports. There are over 1200 leagues in 38 countries. The local league, the Silicon Valley Roller Girls (SVRG), had its first bout in 2008. It is a non-profit organization, and league members not only vote on issues that will affect them, they also manage operational things like producing bouts and merchandising. The SVRG mission includes “encouraging empowerment, sportsmanship and individuality to young women through the sport of roller derby.” The league has three teams and sponsors a junior derby for girls ages 7-17.
