Pro Arts is excited to present Two Cents Worth, a series of panel discussions exploring artistic success in terms of both creative and business measures. Professionally accomplished and creative industry leaders will share their insight on how artists can thrive in the Bay Area and beyond.
“Over the years I’ve done a number of things for you people out there in the public. I’ve done things for free… And so tonight I’m asking you to send me money.” In 1979 the late artist Chris Burden performed a radio piece appealing to listeners to send him money. This performance questioned the value of art and artist’s work; a question relevant for all artists who have “done things for free”. This panel discussion will address successful business practices for artists, considering topics including business planning and the art of asking to be paid for your work.
