Event Details

The SF Bay Guardian presents a special VIP screening of 20th Century Boys, a stirring action film based on the smash hit manga comic by Naoki Urasawa. Enjoy complimentary beverages and tastes at San Francisco’s gateway to J-Pop culture, New People in Japantown.

About The Film: 20th Century Boys 1: Based on the best-selling manga series, this first chapter of the trilogy film adaptation revolves around the “Book of Prophecy” written by the boy Kenji and his friends, who dreamed of a hero who would stand up against an evil organization plotting to destroy the world. 30 years later, a series of catastrophes occur exactly as they were described in their book. With the power of his song, is Kenji going to be able to save the world?!

About The Venue: New People (Post & Webster – Japantown): Visiting New People is like a flash visit to Japan. They just opened their doors this last September, and have a small cafe, a J-pop store filled with ultra cute toys and gadgets that you can’t get anywhere outside Japan, a screening room that looks more like an art project, a few different Japanese fashion and club wear retail shops that are just beyondo, and a totally mod art gallery.

Thursday, December 17 @ New People, 1746 Post near Webster
6pm – 7:15pm reception;
7:30pm screening.
