Time to get some exercise with your fellow beer fans and stretch your legs on this informative urban hike from Dolores Park up and over Kite Hill and Corona Heights and into the Castro.
Master Cicerone Rich Higgins will be leading the hike, answering all your beer questions and sharing SF history tidbits along the route. You’ll be starting at Cerveceria de MateVeza at 11:30 am, where you can buy a freshly-brewed beer or two (and an empanada) before they head out and hike for an hour and a half.
Then hike’s destination is Starbelly, where you can buy a couple more craft cold ones and some delicious grub after the hike (pizza? pate? porchetta?).
The hike will have some moderately strenuous uphill sections, so prepare to shake your thirst at Starbelly, but it’s a good idea to bring some water along with you, too. If the weather’s a little drizzly, the hike is on; if it’s raining, then they’ll have to cancel. Rich will tweet the morning of 2/9 whether there’s a weather cancellation or not: @maltyrich
