SF’s Civic Center Plaza Holiday Tree Lighting 2023

The Civic Center Plaza Holiday Tree Lighting — a free, family-friendly event — returns Wednesday, December 6, 2023, 4-7pm!

This festive event features holiday entertainment, “snow” flurries, festive bites and drinks, free candy canes, free holiday crafts from community organizations, and a toy giveaway for 400+ children!

The night of festive entertainment includes performances by the Tap Dancing Christmas Trees, and Christmas VIPs such as elves and the man-of-the-hour: Santa! The full night’s line up is all led by Boxcar Theatre‘s Artistic Director Nick A. Olivero.

Event begins promptly at 4pm, with the lighting of Civic Center’s 50-foot noble fir by Mayor London Breed at 5:30pm.

Another Planet Entertainment with the San Francisco Police Foundation and Civic Center Community Benefit District will lead a toy giveaway for the first 400 children 12 and under, and there will also be holiday-themed DIY activities with SF Etsy in the free Makers Village. Festive bites will be available for purchase, along with a full bar offering seasonal favorites. Also watch for “snow” flurries!
