University High School and the San Francisco Decorator Showcase is delighted to announce a special offering for 2021: New Perspectives Presented by Decorator Showcase and Steelblue, a stunning conceptual, all-virtual tour event. Ten of the West Coast’s leading interior design firms were invited to reimagine rooms and create their own exceptional virtual visions for 1080 Chestnut Street, a luxurious Russian Hill penthouse with 360° views of San Francisco and its iconic landmarks. The modern, urban interior will reflect the international character of San Francisco’s diverse design community. New Perspectives Presented by Decorator Showcase and Steelblue will open online to the public on Saturday, May 22, 2021. There is no cost to view New Perspectives Presented by Decorator Showcase and Steelblue, but donations to help support San Francisco University High School Financial Aid Program are gratefully accepted.
The Decorator Showcase team has assembled some of this year’s top talent from architecture and real estate, to design and art, to bring together a three-part webinar series. These online events will take place on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 pm, May 18, May 25, and June 1. Like the New Perspectives virtual tour, these events are at no charge, but donations are appreciated.
A special Virtual Press Preview will be held on Thursday, May 20 from 6am – 2pm. To RSVP and receive special instructions, please contact Denise@DeniseLamottPR.com or call (415) 381-8793.
Due to ongoing public health concerns around COVID-19, a typical live, in-person San Francisco Decorator Showcase event was not possible this season. However, the Showcase team has been hard at work to deliver a unique, high-caliber virtual design experience that will feature an interactive virtual 3-D experience created by Steelblue, a creative agency that works exclusively with elite developers and architects to promote premier properties. With no boundaries to hold back the designers, the best in art, furniture and lighting are at their virtual disposal and the possibilities are limitless.
On the market for the first time in 50 years and represented by Gregg Lynn from Sotheby’s International Realty, the 5,445 square foot Russian Hill penthouse is distinguished by soaring ceilings and grand entertaining rooms complemented by majestic, and oversized windows. The inspiring layout features elegantly proportioned entertaining rooms to showcase views spanning from the Golden Gate Bridge to Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge to the Financial Center. Positioned northernmost to offer truly sensational vistas, the corner living room and family room with fireplaces are adjoined by a central wet bar. Eleven-foot glass panels slide open to the panoramic view terrace – one of six outdoor spaces surrounding the Penthouse.
Since 1977, Showcase has raised over $17 million to benefit the San Francisco University High School Financial Aid Program, which helps to bring a rich diversity of backgrounds and perspectives to the top-rated school and increases financial and cultural capacity to support every qualified student. “We are so grateful to these talented designers for stepping up and donating their time and artistry to create a truly world-class virtual experience for Showcase fans,” said Shaundra Bason, University High School Director of Development. “And to the generous sponsors and supporters in this challenging year whose contributions help raise critical funds for the UHS financial aid program allowing us to support students from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, which enriches the high school experience for all students.”
Patrons who donate $500 and above will be celebrated at a virtual preview event and receive exclusive early access to the spectacular penthouse tour before the public launch. Donations can be made at sfuhs.org/giving/decorator-showcase. Corporate sponsorships start at $5,000 and can be arranged by contacting Thelma Garza at thelma.garza@sfuhs.org.
