Event Details

Community picnics were important to the Issei and Nisei generations as social and cultural event, and as a way to strengthen their community. Save the date and join the Jtown Community Family Picnic on Saturday, September 24 from 11 am to 4 pm at the Old Speedway Meadow, in Golden Gate Park.

Please note, from what we can tell the public is invited to this event, but it’s bring your own picnic.

The 100th anniversary picnic was a memorable milestone. And now, a decade later, celebrate the community’s continued dedication to the preservation of the Japanese history and culture which has been passed down by those who came before the present generation. It is in “Kansha,” with gratitude, that a community picnic celebrates 110 years.

Pack a picnic basket. Bring a dessert to share in the “sweets” booth. Gather with family, friends and community for a day of food, games for all, entertainment and fun. Enjoy hotdogs provided midday by the SF Nisei Fishing Club and the SFJACL. There will also be a JTown’s Got Talen Karaoke and Lip Sync Contest.
