Event Details

The second annual Opening Day Festival, showcases the best from SF State’s College of Liberal and Creative Arts. Stroll through an art exhibit, experience live theatre and dance, groove to live jazz, watch student films and grab a bite to eat at one of the food trucks on Sunday, September 28, 2014.

In the Fine Arts Gallery, “Allegorical Procedures: Bay Area Collage, 1950 – Present” surveys collage practices in the Bay Area, including related practices of décollage, assemblage, photomontage and détournement. The exhibition looks back to such well-known precedents as Wallace Berman, Jess, Bruce Conner and the Bay Area Dadaist/Mail art scene of the 1970s, as well as other contemporary artists employing and/or expanding the practice of collage.
