SFJAZZ Summer Jazz 2019: Free Outdoor Music Festival | Palo Alto

Enjoy 10 weeks of rhythm and blues as Summer Jazz, an annual tradition in Palo Alto, celebrates its 32nd Anniversary at Stanford Shopping Center.

A free outdoor concert series, Summer Jazz is produced by SFJAZZ and showcases a variety of jazz musicians and all-stars performing every Thursday from 6 pm to 7:30 pm between June 20 and August 22.

For 2019, the concerts are taking place in Nordstrom and Crate & Barrel at Stanford Shopping Center.

Lavay Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers | SFJAZZ Summer Jazz 2019: Free Outdoor Music Festival | Palo Alto

The Queen of classic jazz and blues is back with her “little big band,” the Red Hot Skillet Lickers, featuring the sensational Big Bones, one of the world’s great blues harmonica players.

Lavay Smith’s all-star 7-piece band will perform a wide selection of instrumental and vocal numbers from the heyday of Kansas City jazz and blues, including music by Charlie Parker, Big Joe Turner and Pete Johnson, Lester Young, and of course, the great Count Basie.
